Flow Management Devices (FMD) Advances Carbon Capture with Small Volume Prover for CO2 Application

Flow Management Devices (FMD), a pioneer in small volume meter provers, has made a significant contribution to Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) industry. They’ve shipped their FMD-007 small volume meter prover to TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory, marking a significant step in CCUS technology.

TÜV SÜD is developing the world’s first traceable CO2 liquid/dense phase calibration facility in East Kilbride, Scotland. This facility, part of the EU-funded ENCASE project, will ensure the precision of CO2 flow measurements, of CO2 flow measurements, a critical aspect of global CCUS applications.

The FMD-007 meter prover, equipped with a high-pressure and low-temperature kit, will operate under extreme conditions to maintain CO2 in its liquid state. This prover will be a key component in the laboratory, verifying the performance of various meter types.

The FMD small volume prover will provide dynamic, traceable calibration of meters under live CO2 process conditions. This ensures the most accurate CO2 measurement possible, enhancing flow measurement accuracy across the CCUS value chain.

The FMD-007 meter prover specifications include a flow rate of 0-700 GPM, a temperature range of -50oF to 120oF (-45oC to 49oC) for the low-temperature kit, and a high-pressure kit rated for up to 3600 psi.
